Las Investigaciones filosóficas dan a la luz en forma de libro observaciones que conforman, en palabras de su autor, «un conjunto de bosquejos de paisajes», fruto de «recorrer en zigzag un amplio ámbito del pensamiento en todas las direcciones». Tratan del concepto de significado, de comprensión, de proposición, reglas y gramática, necesidad, intencionalidad, justificación y experiencia, sobre voluntad y los estados de conciencia, entre otros asuntos. Sobre el trasfondo del Tractatus logico-philosophicus, y en contraste con él, Wittgenstein trata de dilucidar los problemas filosóficos generados por el uso y el abuso del lenguaje ordinario.

Philosophical Investigations bring to light in book form observations that make up, in the words of its author, “a set of landscape sketches”, the result of “zigzagging a wide range of thought in all directions.” They deal with the concept of meaning, understanding, proposition, rules and grammar, necessity, intentionality, justification and experience, on will and states of consciousness, among other matters. Against the background of the Tractatus logico-philosophicus, and in contrast to it, Wittgenstein tries to elucidate the philosophical problems generated by the use and abuse of ordinary language.
