KU Leuven (which stands for Katholieke Universiteit Leuven) is an autonomous university in Belgium. It was founded in 1425, and originated and grew in the Catholic tradition. From its Christian perspective on the human being and the world, the university endeavours to be a place of open discussion of social, philosophical and ethical issues and a critical centre of thought in and for the Catholic community.
